Beds for Epilepsy

Established to help people who suffer from a range of conditions such as epilepsy and seizures, Kinderkey designs and manufactures bespoke safe sleeping solutions.

Our Bearsnoozzze safe sleeping solution provides a number of features that promote safety and comfort – these can be purpose built to requirements. The bed features a four-part profiling mattress frame that allows the inclination to be adjusted to provide therapeutic support. Soft, sturdy sides surround the entire mattress, negating any risk of falling.

Alternatively, the Kinderkey Bed Surround has been designed as a safer solution to wooden or metal bed rails, further minimising the risk of injury or falling out of bed – tailor-made to ensure a perfect fit and maximise safety and comfort.

We are happy to arrange home visits or virtual assessments to measure and assess the suitability of our products against each individual’s needs.

Epilepsy manifests itself in the form of recurrent seizures that result from abnormal electrical activity within the brain. It affects individuals across all ages, ethnicities and social backgrounds, and has the potential to significantly impact someone’s quality of life.

The causes of this chronic neurological condition are diverse, ranging from genetic factors and infections to traumatic brain injuries. In some cases, they cannot be precisely identified. While epilepsy cannot be cured, it can often be effectively managed through medication and therapeutic interventions, allowing many with the condition to lead fulfilling lives.

Early recognition and appropriate treatment remain paramount in controlling the symptoms and reducing the risk of complications that can arise from uncontrolled seizures, which can disrupt the natural sleep rhythm, thereby reducing the restorative value of slumber and exacerbating the symptoms.

Poor sleep is not only marked by increased daytime drowsiness, but it also contributes to a heightened risk of seizure episodes. Additionally, conditions such as sleep apnoea and insomnia become more prevalent, causing a perpetuating cycle of sleep disturbance and seizure activity.
